Morgan graduated from the University of South Florida's school of nursing in 2005. Her nursing experience includes step-down ICU, Labor and Delivery, and Postpartum nursing care. After having her first two children, breastfeeding education became Morgan's passion. In 2017 she became a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and began exclusively doing in-hospital lactation care and teaching monthly breastfeeding basics classes. In 2019, Morgan became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). By obtaining her IBCLC, Morgan's clients can know with confidence that Morgan has completed a minimum of 90 hours of lactation-specific education and has over 1000+ hours of hands-on lactation care experience. Morgan left the hospital setting in 2019 so that she could further assist mothers with their breastfeeding needs well past the first few days after delivery.
Since leaving the hospital, Morgan has adopted her eldest daughter and has given birth to her third baby. Her personal journey with breastfeeding includes oversupply with her first daughter, late-onset milk supply after delivering her second daughter via scheduled cesarean, and lip/tongue restrictions with her son. With her first daughter, Morgan could breastfeed for only six months before facing supply concerns. With her second daughter, she reached ten months of breastfeeding, utilizing her previous knowledge. Morgan had her latest son after she obtained her IBCLC and recently weaned him at 2.5 years old. The only thing that changed that allowed her to go from 6 months and ten months all the way to 2.5 years was her knowledge and confidence about her breastfeeding.
Morgan is a member of the United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA) as well as a member of the local
Pikes Peak Breastfeeding Coalition, which focuses on community breastfeeding support and resources.
Morgan is proud to be starting her journey to becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. Beginning in September 2022, Morgan will be enrolled in the FNP Master's Program at Grand Canyon University. Her dream is to one day open a maternal and infant wellness clinic focusing on mom and newborn supportive care from pregnancy through the infant's second birthday.
Morgan desires to provide Colorado Springs mothers with more in-depth breastfeeding assistance after discharge from the hospital, birth center, or homebirth and to stand by their side, assisting them as needed throughout their entire breastfeeding journey. Breastfeeding sometimes is not as easy as initially believed. Breastfeeding is natural, but that doesn't mean it isn't a learned skill. Morgan would love to help you reach your own breastfeeding goals.
